LILGUYback

the story

LILGUY is the new name for Abbot's Pizza. Neighborhood shop on Abbot Kinney since 1995, new hands in December 2025. New Haven/New York/Roman inspired. Slices in the shop, takeout, and delivery.

I grew up in New Haven surrounded by neighborhood joints, places that were ours. Comfort food, community food, the kind of place you didn't have to think about because it was just always there. Abbot's was that for Venice once. That's exactly what we're bringing back.

Thirty years on one of the most iconic blocks in Los Angeles is not an accident. Abbot's built something real here at 1407 Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice, CA 90291, a neighborhood pizza institution that showed up for Venice when Venice needed a slice.

That legacy matters to me, and I'm not walking away from it.

This pizza is a New Haven and New York hybrid with Roman baking technique. Crispy undercarriage, bright sauce, light but rich cheese, a crust that's crisp outside and chewy where it counts. A perfect slice that folds right. No forks and knives needed.

The Abbot's classics remain, the Salad Pizza and BBQ Chicken, elevated and done with intention. Everything bagel crust is an option on any pie. Same corner, same community. We call it lilguy. You'll see why.

What we use

Here's exactly what we use and why it matters.

Dough

We blend two Caputo flours, 00 and 0. The result is a crust with better color, more flavor, and a texture that's crisp where it should be crisp and chewy where it counts. Every dough ball ferments for 48 hours. That's where the flavor comes from.

Cheese

Grande whole milk mozzarella. We go intentionally lighter on the cheese, a nod to New Haven style. Whole milk gives you a richer, creamier melt without overwhelming the pie. Every ingredient gets an equal shot to bring its flavor to the job site. The stracciatella is Grande too.

Sauce

Stanislaus plum tomatoes, grown in California. We add salt, olive oil, and fresh basil. No cooking. No fuss. Bright acidity, natural sweetness, clean finish. The tomato does the work.

Pepperoni

Ezzo, the pepperoni that curls at the edges, crisps in the oven, and pools with flavor in the center. If you know, you know.

What we're known for

The classics, the plain mootz and pepperoni, rebuilt from the dough up, every single time. The Salad Pizza and BBQ Chicken still here, still weird in the best way. Everything bagel crust, an option on any pie. Pizza by the slice, whole pies, delivery, and pickup on Abbot Kinney, built for the way Venice Beach actually eats.
